PTV’s Policy Priorities
Our 2025 policy priorities include:
Protecting and building upon the gains that we’ve made in voting rights and election security and accessibility.
Ensuring past reforms, which improved access to the ballot and strengthened and modernized our election processes, are not only upheld but are also effectively implemented to benefit all eligible Michiganders.
Pushing for measures that increase transparency, accountability, and fairness in Michigan elections, including measures that reduce the influence of big money in politics and ensure that voters’ voices are the loudest in our elections.
We invite you to visit our Voting & Elections page for informational one-pagers on bills and policies that PTV has supported in the past and are now part of our election law.

Key Bills on PTV’s Radar
Promote The Vote carefully tracks all election and voting-related bills that move through the Michigan legislature. Below are just a few of the key bills that are currently on our radar. If you’d like more details on these bills or any of the others that we’re tracking, please don’t hesitate to contact info@promotethevotemi.com.
HJR B: HJR B is a joint resolution to amend the Michigan Constitution that would impose new, onerous barriers to voting. Learn more about this joint resolution and why PTV opposes it here.
HB 4136: This will would expand access to voter registration by making applications available through the Department of Natural Resources. PTV supports this bill.
HB 4536: This bill provides a procedure to remove a voter from the Qualified Voter File if they haven’t voted in at least eight years. PTV supports efforts to ensure that the voter rolls remain up-to-date and accurate, but we also must ensure that voting remains accessible, regardless of how frequently an individual chooses to vote. PTV did not support this bill, but we shared proposed revisions that would better balance these competing interests.
HB 4602: This bill Clarifies certain processes related to test deck procedures. PTV supports efforts to ensure that such processes are clear, open, and transparent, but they also must be subject to robust testing to preserve election integrity. PTV did not support this bill, but we shared proposed revisions that would better balance these competing interests.
HB 4812: This bill requires the Michigan Department of Corrections to provide voting information, including how to register and vote and upcoming election dates, to individuals upon release. A version of this bill passed the Senate during the last legislative session, but stalled in the House. PTV supports this bill.
SB 422: This bill provides the Attorney General’s office with the authority to resolve campaign finance violations committed by the Secretary of State. PTV supports this bill.

Help Protect Your Community’s Voting Rights
Initiatives from the misnamed Committee to Protect Voters’ Rights and Americans for Citizen Voting-Michigan would tangle voters up in unnecessary red tape and make it more difficult for eligible U.S. citizens to vote. Promote the Vote works to advance voting rights for the people of Michigan and opposes all efforts aimed at preventing eligible voters from registering or voting. Visit NoRedTapeForMI.com to learn how you can help defend your community against these harmful initiatives.
